Neil Schroeter | chef & owner
Neil Schroeter has loved cooking from a very young age. He began his career in hospitality at fifteen, covering all the nasty positions, later worked as a bartender and fine dining server at many fine establishments in both Saskatoon and Calgary.
He confirmed his passion for cooking while attending the Southern Alberta Institute of Technology (SAIT) in Calgary. He completed the 2-year Culinary Arts program with honors in 1990 and obtained his red seal. Two years later he completed the Sommelier course at George Brown College in Toronto.
He gained valuable experience with Chef Marcel Kretz at Hotel La Sapiniere, a Relais & Chateaux in Val David, Quebec followed by a few inspiring years with Chef John Higgins at the five-diamond King Edward Hotel in Toronto, ON.
A move across the country took him to the Delta Whistler Resort for nine years, finishing as the Offsite Executive Chef where he oversaw the food production at the Whistler Convention Centre, Whistler Golf Course, Pacific Starlight Dinner Train and Royal Hudson Steam Train.
After moving to the sunny Okanagan, he was able to fine-tune his passion for food and wine creating fresh creative dishes as the Chef de Cuisine at the Cellar Door Bistro at Sumac Ridge Estate Winery in Summerland, BC.
After 7 years at the winery it was time to pursue his new business, okanagan street food market & catering, which has now expanded to include the restaurant located at 812 Crowley Avenue.
Fresh and flavorful, using seasonal products is the focus. Whether it’s classic or contemporary cuisine you are after, Neil can help you create a very memorable dining experience.
